Ark How to Get Cooked Meat Jerky Easy

Food is vital in Ark: Survival Evolved but finding the ideal item is a challenge. Here's how to make one of the many good foods in the game. One of the best things about Ark: Survival Evolved is how much players can do. They can hunt or tame dinosaurs, build luxurious bases, and farm resources all around the island. However, to do all these strenuous activities, it makes sense that the player will need to eat once in a while.

While there may be a vast amount of food around the island, the best and most efficient items will need to be crafted and can often be challenging to get a supply of. Luckily, one of the best and arguably one of the easiest foods to make in this survival game is the Prime Meat Jerky. Here's how to make it.

What's The Point Of Prime Meat Jerky?

What's The Point Of Prime Meat Jerky

One of the most frustrating aspects of Ark: Survival Evolved is the fact that meat spoils. It's typically a resource many players will end up having an abundance of which only means they will spoil, and the food will be useless. This is where making jerky comes in. It's essentially a way to take Prime Meat and make it last longer.

Prime Meat Jerky will restore 35 food points and 25 health to the player which makes it a relatively useful item to eat. However, where this food really thrives is within how long it takes to spoil. It all depends on the location of the meat, but this food can last considerably longer than many other raw foods. It's ideal to have in the base just in case it's needed.

Location Days Until Spoilt
Players Inventory Two Days
Creatures Inventory Eight Days
Preserving Bin 20 Days
Refrigerator 200 Days

The Ingredients

A Preserving Bin

Prime Meat Jerky is made in a Preserving Bin, so if the player wants to create this food then they will need to first make this item. Thankfully, it's not too challenging to make and only requires a few readily available items. Namely:

  • 30 Stone
  • 30 Wood
  • 10 Thatch
  • 20 Fiber

Once those resources have been collected the player can move on to crafting the Prime Meat Jerky. It's not as simple as making the Preserves Jar, but it doesn't require any more machinery or items. To create one Prime Meat Jerky the player will need:

  • One Cooked Prime Meat
  • One Oil
  • Three Sparkpowder

Grabbing the ingredients to make the Preserving Bin is one of the easier elements of this recipe and will likely be a beginner-friendly build. Simply grab the axe and get some wood from the trees, then use the Pickaxe for the Thatch. Lastly, find the Stone and the Fiber laying about the island.

It shouldn't be a long process, but the player should also look into getting hold of some more Sparkpowder since it's the resource that is required to run this item. Having an available resource like Sparkpowder is vital, and luckily it's relatively cheap to make, only costing two flints and one stone to make two Sparkpowders.

Getting oil and cooked meat Jerky

The Cooked Prime Meat can be created by cooking prime meat on a campfire. Prime Meat can be found by hunting Alpha Predators or other larger dinosaurs like the Allosaurus or the Mammoth. Once that meat has been harvested players will need to cook it relatively quickly since it has a fast spoil time.

After the Prime Meat has been cooked, players will need to create oil. Oil can be found in a multitude of ways. Players can head to the colder aspects of the island and mine an Oil vein with the metal pickaxe or head to a vein in the ocean which is a little more dangerous. Or, if the player is further ahead in the game, they can use an oil pump in the desert. It's a particularly useful item in Ark: Survival Evolved so it's worth going through the effort.

Lastly, the player needs to gather three Spark Powder. Luckily, it's a little easier than oil and can be produced by placing four flint and two stones in the Mortar and Pestle. This will create four Sparkpowders. While players may only need three, having more of this resource is never a bad thing since it can be used to power the Preserves Bin for the next batch of useful food.

Once the player has acquired all the ingredients required and created the Preserving Bin, it's time to make Prime Meat Jerky. Simply, place the Cooked Prime Meat, the Sparkpowder, and the Oil in the Preserving Bin and wait for it to create Prime Meat Jerky.

Players will typically need to wait around 36 minutes for it to be created, so it isn't the quickest of processes. With that in mind, it's worth either having more than one Preserving Bin or players can always put in more than one ingredient to make a batch of Prime Meat Jerky. After all, with the amount of time players have before it spoils, it's well worth having a few to hand at all times.
